Chess with Championship Chess FIRST HOUR

Championship Chess is Georgia’s premier chess teaching program. This class is for grades 1 through 5 only. Championship Chess has an established and consistent record of helping students compete at the highest levels, both in Georgia and nationally. Our coaches are more than strong chess players, they are educators who know how to teach kids in a way that is clear, structured, and fun.   Our proven method helps students build the knowledge and skills they need to become stronger chess players, while also developing critical thinking, patience, focus, and problem solving skills that can help them well beyond the chessboard.    For newer students, we will focus on fundamentals, good habits, opening principles, tactics, and purposeful play. For returning and more advanced students, we will be building on what they already know, introducing more advanced concepts, strengthening their decision making, and helping them become more confident in real game situations. We will also begin preparing interested students for tournament play, including the three major 2027 events, the MLK Tournament, the State Qualifier, and the State Championship.    Most importantly, we want students to enjoy learning.
